I don't recommend all types of photography sessions to everyone. I also don't say the following to toot my own horn.
If I had to recommend one type of session to family, friends, and clients, I would recommend doing a newborn session.
Why?
Newborn moments are the moments that pass us by in the blink of an eye. One moment they're babies, the next they're walking and talking.
Moments are fleeting. I have seen some families have limited time with their children, and newborn photos are something that last forever.
No matter the circumstances, children grow up fast. The newborn phase doesn't last forever, but pictures of it do.
Probably the most common type of session you will see of newborns will be POSED newborn sessions. These sessions offer adorable images of babies indifferent outfits, sleeping, and being beautifully posed.
These are the sessions that you will most likely see in baby books for children when they get older. They are the photographs you want printed and hung up in the nursery, as they make for beautiful art pieces.
Another type of newborn session is the FRESH 48 session. These sessions are done right in the hospital. They capture the pure emotion that takes place after birth. They capture the moments when you welcome your child into the world for the very first time. These are done up to 48 hours after the child's birth, thus creating the name, Fresh 48. A good example of this is Baby Benjamin's session.
The last type of session is the LIFESTYLE newborn session. These sessions capture the essence of your family's love. These are mostly candid pictures, capturing what you do in everyday life. They capture your moments of feeding your child, rocking him, and everything in between. These types of sessions are perfect for keeping vivid memories of what life was like when your little one was younger.
So if you have to choose one session, I would recommend doing a newborn session. The newborn phase is absolutely precious and seems to fly by in the blink of an eye.
